Calendar Info on the Digital Sign

Tips on what to enter for calendar events

So you have a digital sign…now what?

The possibilities are truly endless! You get the opportunity to showcase all of the fun things that are happening in your community. Remember, your digital sign is a resource for your residents, team members, families, and prospects. Keep those different audiences in mind when you are uploading content to your signs!

If you find yourself asking, “What should I add to our calendar?” check out this list of ideas below.

Start practicing publishing events on your calendar by adding in all of the big (federal) U.S. holidays for the year. Planning ahead and adding these events saves time later & helps fill out your calendar!

  • General list of holidays to add:
    • New Year’s Day
    • Martin Luther King Jr Day
    • President’s Day
    • Memorial Day
    • Independence Day
    • Labor Day
    • Columbus Day
    • Veterans' Day
    • Thanksgiving
    • Christmas Eve & Christmas Day
    • Valentine’s Day
    • St Patrick’s Day
    • Good Friday
    • Easter

Make sure you check the box as “Holiday Event” for it to appear at the top of the events list on your calendar!

Each month, you may want to check your resident roster for any upcoming birthdays. If you select “All Day Event” when you create the event, the birthday message appears at the top of the events for that day.

  • Don’t put sensitive information on your sign. If it is Dorothy Smith’s 92nd birthday, a simple “Happy Birthday Dorothy” or “Happy Birthday Ms. Smith” is sufficient and keeps people’s more sensitive information private.
  • Make sure you are revisiting this list prior to each month to add/remove birthdays as needed.

Now that you have some things added to your calendar, let’s continue with your recurring events. Recurring events are events that happen on a regular basis. For example, if you live-stream a church service every Sunday at 10am, that would be entered on your calendar as a recurring event.

  • Create your event on the day you want it to be visible on your calendar.
  • Select the “Repeat” box to make your single-entry event happen on a regular occurrence.
