      How to Find the YouTube video Embed Code

      1. On a computer, go to the YouTube video you want to embed

      2. Under the video, click SHARE  
      3. Click Embed
      4. From the box that appears, copy the URL that comes after “src=” and ends right before “frameborder” begins.
      5. For example, you should have something like this copied: “https://www.youtube.com/embed/HQDXWj50pdE”

      6. Paste the URL into the browser to confirm that it isn’t copyright-protected. If you do not see the following image, then are in the clear.
      7. In order to schedule the YouTube video, please follow the instructions on how to Schedule a YouTube Video found below.

      How to Create a YouTube Channel

      Create a free Google account

      Important Note for Scheduling Videos in the eCMS

      Important– you MUST know the duration of your video and enter a start and end time in the eCMS to schedule it. The eCMS schedules playtimes in 15-minute increments.

        1. If the duration of your YouTube video surpasses the end time you schedule, the video cuts off before it is finished playing. 
        2. If the duration of your video ends before the next 15-minute increment arrives, a temporary white screen appears until the next 15-minute increment begins.
        • For example, if your YouTube video is 12 minutes long and you schedule it to begin at 1 pm, then a white screen displays on your in-house channel until 1:15.

        Schedule a YouTube Video 

        1. Copy the Embed URL from a YouTube video
        2. Login to the eCMS
        3. Set the Content Indicator to your community and choose the level of living/program or select “All Programs”
        4. Go to Videos and select - Add new video
        5. Tag to CATEGORY – YouTube
        6. Add a description if you wish (Required for Digital Sign Use, see note below).
        7. Schedule with start date & start time/end time.  
        8. Select the URL radio button and paste the YouTube embed link you copied earlier 
        9. Select the box(es) for the correct display location(s) (i.e Digital Sign, In-Room TV)
        10. Create

          NOTE: For Digital Signage, the description field must include the YouTube video’s duration in the format HH:MM:SS

          For example, a YouTube video that is a minute and thirty-two seconds long should be “00:01:32” with no additional alphanumeric characters, spaces, or symbols.

        Schedule a YouTube Playlist

        Play a series of videos.

        • Go to a YouTube channel
        • Find the Playlist
        • Click Share and then copy the embed code
        • Follow steps to schedule a YouTube video

        Schedule a YouTube Live Stream

        Stream live video in real-time.

        • Create your Community’s YouTube channel
        • Sign Up for YouTube Live
        • From your YouTube channel,  go to the “Go live” icon
        • Studio – Schedule stream in YouTube studio
        • Next – YouTube captures thumbnail image for you
        • Go into your livestream channel
        • Copy the embed code and follow instructions to schedule a YouTube video.
          • Remember to tag YouTube in Category!

        • NOTE: Each YouTube live session has its own unique URL.
        • Once the live-stream session ends, that same URL shows the recorded stream of the live session.

        CLC Mobile App Videos

        You can engage your community with videos through the CLC mobile app!  Post videos (or any URL) in the eCMS under ‘Community Connections’ and they appear in the app’s ‘Community Resources.’ 

        Post a video (or link) to the app’s Community Resources

        • You do not need to know the video duration
        • You are not required to enter an end time or end date.
        • You do need the video’s embed code

        From the eCMS Admin Dashboard:


        1. Go to the Content Menu and select ‘community connections
        2. Enter the video name, start date and paste the embed code URL.  
        3. Click Active

        The video is now available on the mobile app!
